I've been in the building business for almost 20 years now. I have used every truss company in town. This is what I have found about each of the local companies. I hope this will help anyone who is considering which company to buy their product from. Dixie Components: While the owner seems like a good enough guy, their salesman might as well be working in a used car lot. He'll say whatever he thinks you want to hear instead of just being honest! Eventually the lies come to the surface. He needs to learn the tactic of 'under promise and over deliver'. Their product is decent, but certainly not the best in town. And their price is generally the highest in town. Not worth the hassle and headache--and certainly not the price. I use waaayyyy too many Advil on a daily basis when I deal with them. Burton Components: I am not trying to be rude here--but I think they have about 10-15 guys working for them. If you like an inferior product that is weeks late...look no further. St George Truss: By far the biggest and most automated and computerized truss company in town. They have over a hundred employees and last I heard run shifts around the clock. The lumber they use is always the best quality out of all the truss manufacturers in town. And the most important thing to me is they are always honest with me when it comes to expected time of delivery for engineering and product. This is HUGE because it allows me to schedule my crews accordingly so I am not wasting money. Their salesman is always truthful to me which is extremely valuable. Their product is top notch and the best in town. They have all automated equipment that is unbelievably precise. As far as value goes, well they aren't the cheapest in town. But they aren't the most expensive either. They are typically the second highest-or third lowest depending on how you look at it. But you get what you pay for. Great service, great product, and on time delivery. A-Truss: Not much to say here. They are great guys... good old boys who are honest and hard working. But their yard is outdated and extremely small. If you have a small project that you aren't in a hurry for, they will work great.
